History of the Department:

Department of Economics  Government Degree College, Chintapalli   A.S.R District is established in 2007. The department is catering the educational needs of Chintapalli, G.K Veedhi and Koyurru ,G.MadugulaMandals of A.S.R District of Andhra Pradesh. It is a co-educational course offering services to under graduate. The college was initially in the Government junior  college campus of Chintapalli offer with H.E.P (History, Economics & Politics) in Telugu medium with a sanctioned strength of 60.

Initially there were three lecturers in the Department later in the year 2007 Restructured and courses in Economics subject was introduced i.e. Rural Industrialization and Rural Development. Hence the Economics Department is with one lecturer and Rural Industrialization and Rural Development each with one lecturer. Now BA HERI (History, Economics and Rural Industrialization) the Restructured course is being run with 50 seats.
